Cumberland Council, Workington AFC and Workington Town RLFC have joined forces to create a new and exciting sports facility that will be the pride of Cumbria. This website is the place for the community, fans and shareholders of both clubs, as well as potential partners, to stay up to date on the progress of the Cumberland Sports Village development. Our intention is that this site will be interactive, providing regular updates on key stages of the scheme, and offering the opportunity to ask the questions that are important to YOU. This shared sports development will offer so many benefits to everyone concerned – and it will challenge the status quo. That’s why we want your involvement, helping us all to move forward together.
About the Project…
Cumberland Sports Village is an exciting new partnership between Cumberland Council, Workington AFC and Workington Town RLFC. It will create a high quality, inclusive and accessible venue for the football and rugby clubs, and benefit the wider community with the addition of new sporting facilities for all to enjoy.
Our Vision…
The redevelopment of the existing footprint of Borough Park will create a new shared stadium for Workington Reds and Workington Town to provide a new modern stadium that will meet the aspirations of the clubs and provide a foundation for their future progression as well as provide a hub of sporting excellence for the community.
Latest News…
Shareholders meetings have been arranged for Tuesday 17th June where all members of both clubs will be briefed with the very latest developments on this project. Once these meetings have taken place a comprehensive update will go live on our website for the community at large.
